Garras (May 2010)
Garras Refugee Group explores the Forest of Dean
We ran a very positive daytrip to the Forest of Dean for eight refugees who represent the Garras Refugee Group in Gloucester and Refugee Action in Bristol. This was also a planning trip for future work with refugees in terms of trips and volunteering & training opportunities. Fathers learnt that going to the countryside with their children has a huge impact on their relationships. They learnt that the natural environment can offer them a variety of things suitable for different members of the family: arts, environmental, health & well-being & personal/social development activities. Photography & interviews reflected extremely positive experiences.
